Job summary
A leading firm in the mining sector based in Malaysia is seeking a Mining Engineer to plan, execute, and optimize iron ore mining operations. The successful candidate will evaluate site feasibility, conduct geological analyses, and design extraction systems while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role is open to fresh graduates and those with some experience in mining operations. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in mining software are essential for this position.
Qualifications

- Able to work independently and collaboratively in remote site environments.
- Physically fit and willing to work in challenging terrain and weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the feasibility and commercial viability of new and existing mining sites.
- Conduct site visits and analyze geological data to estimate ore reserves.
- Design efficient extraction systems tailored to site conditions.
- Develop mine plans and production schedules using mining software.

As a Mining Engineer at OUS Group, you will play a critical role in planning, executing, and optimizing iron ore mining operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction processes aligned with regulatory and environmental standards.
- Evaluate the feasibility and commercial viability of new and existing iron ore mining sites
- Conduct site visits and analyze geological and geotechnical data to estimate ore reserves
- Design and implement efficient extraction systems tailored to site-specific conditions
- Develop mine plans, production schedules, and cost estimates using specialized mining software
- Identify and assess operational risks related to extraction and site conditions
- Monitor and manage daily mining activities to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and safety protocols
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, environmental guidelines, and OHS standards
- Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of mining equipment and machinery
- Prepare technical reports, production records, and performance analyses
- Supervise and train site personnel, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, and senior management to support strategic decision-making
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; candidates with minimum 1 year of relevant experience will have an added advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proficient in mining software (e.g., Surpac, MineSched, AutoCAD) is an advantage
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in remote site environments

- Willing to travel and be stationed at mining sites as required
- Strong organizational and reporting skills
- Able to commence work immediately or within short notice
