About the role

You will help design, build, run and maintain (SRE) scalable cloud infrastructure for our major platform. You will own AWS environments, CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling and core system reliability. This is a hands‑on engineering role with influence across development, QA and operations. Salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.

Key tasks and responsibilities
  • Designing and managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, networking, IAM)
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins & Gitlab)
  • Delivering infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible and Packer
  • Automating application deployments and environment provisioning
  • Improving reliability, monitoring, logging and alerting
  • Troubleshooting complex infrastructure, networking and application issues
  • Supporting production systems (3rd line)
  • Implementing security best practices and system hardening
  • Documenting and improving DevOps processes
  • Very occasional travel may be required
  • Work some hours during UK and European time zones to enable working with these teams
What you must have and bring to the role
Essential
  • Experience using Linux as your daily driver
  • 3–5+ years DevOps/SRE or Systems Engineering experience
  • Expert Linux administration and troubleshooting
  • Solid experience with AWS (production level)
  • Hands‑on CI/CD experience (preferably Jenkins)
  • Proficiency with Terraform, plus Ansible/Packer
  • Strong scripting skills – knowledge and use of Bash
  • Good understanding of networking, security, firewalls and cloud architecture
  • Experience using Git
  • Experience of working with cross‑functional teams such as developers, operations, QA etc and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to them
  • Advanced skills in identifying, analysing and resolving complex issues and system faults.
  • Align DevOps practices with business objectives, architect scalable solutions and drive innovation
  • Assist in the adoption of a DevOps culture across the organisation
  • Able to quickly learn new technologies, tools and processes in a fast changing environment
  • Strive to understand user needs
  • Have a proactive approach to identifying potential issues and making improvements before they become problems
  • Be an effective teamworker and communicator
Desirable
  • Strong scripting skills in Python
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
  • Exposure to GCP/Azure/OpenStack
  • Experience in logistics, transport or postal environments
