The role
We are seeking a Procurement Specialist with expertise in Software Asset Management (SAM) to manage software procurement, vendor negotiations, and license compliance. The ideal candidate will ensure cost-effective software acquisitions, optimize license usage, and mitigate compliance risks.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end software procurement, including vendor selection, onboarding, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with software publishers, resellers, and internal stakeholders to procure licenses at the best price and terms.
- Handle quote management, purchase requisitions, and approvals for software acquisitions.
- Evaluate software vendors based on pricing, contract terms, and service quality.
- Work closely with the SAM team to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and optimize software usage.
- Assist in license rationalization to avoid underutilization and over-purchasing.
- Monitor renewals, subscriptions, and license expirations to prevent disruptions in operations.
- Negotiate volume discounts, flexible contracts, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for software purchases and usage.
- Ensure compliance with EULA (End-User License Agreements) and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with IT, Finance, Legal, and Business teams for software budgeting and procurement decisions.
- Develop procurement reports, cost analysis, and vendor performance assessments.
- Support in internal and external audits related to software procurement.
What we need to see from you
- Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in software procurement, vendor management, or SAM.
- Knowledge of software licensing models (Perpetual, Subscription, SaaS, Cloud, etc.).
- Familiarity with any IT procurement tools, SAM tools (e.g., SNOW, Flexera, ServiceNow).
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Analytical mindset with expertise in cost optimization and risk mitigation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (IT, Finance, Legal, Business Units).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement platforms.
Preferred Certifications (Optional, but a plus):
- CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager)
- ITIL Foundation
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply)
