A well-established accountancy practice in Shrewsbury is seeking an Accounts and Tax Assistant to support the firm with account preparation, tax returns, and bookkeeping tasks. We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice in Shrewsbury for an Accounts and Tax Assistant to join their team. In this role, you will support the firm by preparing accounts, handling tax returns, performing bookkeeping tasks, and maintaining effective client communication, helping drive the ongoing growth and success of our practice.
Duties include:
- Prepare accounts for sole traders and complete self-assessment tax returns
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
- Support the preparation of accounts for limited companies
- Carry out bookkeeping duties for key clients
- Act as a point of contact with HMRC on behalf of clients
- Ensure timely and professional communication with clients, addressing enquiries efficiently
About you:
- Positive and proactive attitude
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent teamwork abilities
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in tax/accounting
Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Dext, or TaxCalc
- AAT qualification
- GCSE or equivalent (required)
