Job description
Overview

DeepOcean has an exciting opportunity to join our team on a permanent staff basis, located in our Aberdeen office. You will have the opportunity to manage the Glomar Supporter vessel, ensuring delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable subsea inspection and survey operations across multiple markets, in accordance with agreed EBITDA, company procedures and HSEQS standards. It will focus on consistent delivery within approved Standard Modes, using remote and hybrid solutions to enhance efficiency while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
General
  • In all phases of projects, due consideration shall be given to the safety and occupational health of personnel, the Environment and company assets, and managers are to ensure that all work is performed in conformance with HSEQS requirements set out by company and client and applicable statutory regulations.
Role Specific
  • Provides operational oversight and management of Glomar Supporter projects in the UK sector and other regions as required; leading day-to-day vessel operations so the vessel, people and equipment are ready and the roadmap is delivered.
  • Manages and drives the integration of remote operations services to the Glomar Supporter, in line with company strategy.
  • Understands the project contract, project scope, requirement and execution.
  • Responsible for projects and that they are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting clients’ needs, business objectives and HSEQS requirements.
  • Aligns the vessel with remote operations objectives and hybrid control models (for example, vessel-based ROV with onshore pilots or data teams); promotes tight integration with the shore-based remote operations centre to reduce vessel time and speed up reporting.
KEY TASKS
Glomar Supporter Strategy Delivery
  • Manage the Glomar Supporter charter agreement, schedule and logistics; handles standby, weather and changes; works with chartering and logistics teams to keep the plan on track.
  • Work with business development team to identify prospects and support commercial team to ensure tender submissions align with vessel capabilities and client expectations.
  • Supports commercial and operations teams in the development of budgets and vessel utilisation.
  • Oversee the integration of the remote operations systems onto the Glomar Supporter, in line with company strategy.
  • Ensures all work stays within standard modes and limits, in alignment with Glomar Supporter strategy.
Project Management
  • Managing project proposals including determining project requirements, scope, resources, programme, and cost estimates (budgets) for delivering the project.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the key stakeholders, project team and customer.
  • Anticipates and takes pre-emptive action to address issues and potential conflict situations that may impact on project delivery Leading multi-disciplinary project teams consisting of technical/professional staff and suppliers.
  • Project P&L accountability including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast determination and attainment, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing and cash collection.
  • Achieve schedule, performance, cost, quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements of the project from contract award to Customer’s acceptance.
  • Managing changes to project scope.
  • Maintaining project deliverables, information, and records.
  • Performance management and reporting (Project & personnel).
  • Manage work being performed by project team members, assuring outputs and KPIs meet the project/ business requirements.
  • Development of project management documentation including project management plans, cost estimates and forecasts, risk registers, project schedules, stakeholder registers, project organisation charts, interface registers etc. to successfully deliver the project objectives.
  • Contract management and contract administration including change management.
  • Monitoring and controlling the project schedule, manhours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditure.
  • Monitoring and controlling project progress according to agreed measures and organisational procedures and recommending corrective action where necessary.
  • Leads supplier management for the survey and ROV equipment to ensure critical spares are in place and sets the escalation path, so issues are fixed quickly.
KEY MEASURABLE ELEMENTS
  • HSEQS targets are obtained within projects.
  • Financial targets are obtained throughout the Projects.
  • Delivery of the Glomar Supporter Strategy Roadmap.
  • Meets or exceeds Glomar Supporter and remote operations centre (ROC) utilisation targets.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers.
  • The Project Model is adhered to for all projects.
  • Monthly Project Review participation.
KEY BEHAVIOURS
  • Champions HSEQS values and processes and demonstrates Safety Leadership by developing an enduring and proactive approach on all Projects and worksites through routine engagement/worksite visits.
  • Possesses sound Project Management approaches/methodology and experience in the delivery (from tender to completion) of offshore projects and services in the Offshore Energy Industry.
  • Experience in supervision, coaching and performance evaluation in a multinational workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills (English) both written and verbal and ability to effectively interface across multiple stakeholders.
  • Building successful relationships to enable collaboration is a key aspect of this role. Necessary interpersonal skills to interface, manage and influence a range of internal and external service providers are required.
  • Driving the key stakeholders, setting the pace, and ensuring all stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers are working towards the Project delivery requirements.

FORMAL EDUCATION
  • Bachelor or Master Degree or other relevant education.
QUALIFICATION / DEMONSTRABLE EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrable experience and success as an unsupervised manager within Projects and an appropriate level of tertiary education in a business management and or engineering discipline is preferable. However, candidates who are in possession of relevant work experience in a similar role in lieu of formal qualifications may also be considered.
  • Possesses sound Project Management knowledge/approaches/methodology and experience in the delivery (from tender to completion) of survey & IRM projects and services in the Offshore Energy Industry.
  • Membership or working towards membership of appropriate professional institution (PMI, APM, MRICS, MCIOB) is desirable.
  • Experience of remote operations is desirable.
