Maintenance Technician

Salary £36,000 - £38,000

Main purpose of job:

Organise and manage the day-to-day/weekly/monthly site maintenance function, including site and contractors staff, liaising with operations staff to ensure a high level of service.

Ensure compliance with legislation and directives from outside bodies (EA, HSE etc.) as well as company imposed compliances, e.g., for insurance purposes.

The role

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Organise and supervise a mixed skill team, including contract staff, to achieve an efficient maintenance function while adhering to relevant legislation.
• Assess plant defects, specify remedial actions, and propose modifications to maintain plant reliability and availability.
• Assist in developing Stores Systems, Management Systems, H&S procedures, and the CMMS to improve maintenance organisation.
• Plan and supervise planned maintenance outages, including shutdowns, specifying work, quality control, and coordination.
• Assist in working within approved budgets.
• Attend maintenance-based HSE site intervention meetings as required.
• Ensure maintenance responsiveness to business needs.
• Complete and file fault reports promptly.
• Manage timely repair/overhaul of off-site equipment.
• Maintain critical spares stock levels and conduct stock checks.
• Carry out hazard and risk assessments for maintenance tasks.
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental Management System, and Health & Safety standards.
• Report safety concerns to management.
• Perform any other duties as requested by Site Management.

The person

Other Essential Skills:

• Availability to attend site out of hours for breakdowns or emergencies.
• Capability to arc and/or MIG weld.
• Problem-solving skills with a practical engineering approach.
• Proficiency with PC and learning new software systems.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision, capable of prioritising tasks.
• Abrasive Wheels certification.
• Experience with CMMS systems.
