Safety Advisor Inner East London - Large Commercial Construction Project

An established commercial construction company with operations across Ireland, UK and Northern Europe. This business specialises in the fitout and construction of commercial construction projects and has an impressive portfolio of work.

Due to an increase in project workload there is an opportunity for a Safety Advisor in East London. Reporting to the Safety Lead, the role is responsible for establishing, developing and directing the implementation of the Health and Safety strategy on the project.

Role Responsibilities

1. Support the EHS Manager/Lead and project teams in the development and implementation of the safety management system and safe systems of work in line with statutory obligations.
2. Work closely with the operational team and support the development and monitoring of safe systems of work and risk assessments to ensure all project activities are adequately planned and executed.
3. Auditing and Reporting: Ensuring Projects are audited; EHS indices are tracked, and non-conformances are addressed.
4. Ensure projects operate in compliance with all statutory requirements and best practice.
5. Highlight and advise on health and safety related issues from preconstruction to completion of all associated project works.
6. Attend Start Up meetings with site teams and be an active participant.
7. Facilitate internal and external inspections/audits and ensure the timely close out of any issues arising.
8. Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior company management.

To Be Considered

1. Third level qualification in EHS or a related discipline.
2. 3+ years’ experience working on large scale commercial/construction projects.
3. Highly organised and proactive.
4. Conscientious, highly focused and detail oriented.
5. Self-starter with the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders.
6. Full clean driver’s license preferable.
7. Excellent communication skills.
