At Deloitte, our Purpose is to make an impact that matters. We exist to inspire and help our people, organizations, communities, and countries to thrive by building a better future. Our work underpins a prosperous society where people can find meaning and opportunity. It builds consumer and business confidence, empowers organizations to find imaginative ways of deploying capital, enables fair, trusted, and functioning social and economic institutions, and allows our friends, families, and communities to enjoy the quality of life that comes with a sustainable future. And as the largest 100% Canadian-owned and operated professional services firm in our country, we are proud to work alongside our clients to make a positive impact for all Canadians.

By living our Purpose, we will make an impact that matters.

  • Have many careers in one Firm.
  • Enjoy flexible, proactive, and practical benefits that foster a culture of well-being and connectedness.
  • Learn from deep subject matter experts through mentoring and on-the-job coaching.

What will your typical day look like?

As a Senior Manager, you will be a critical leader on our team delivering strategy and business design projects with our Technology, Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications, and Sports clients. You will assume overall leadership in the delivery of projects, supported by a core team of consultants, while building long-term relationships with senior executive clients (i.e., C-suite, EVP, SVP level). You will also identify and lead business development opportunities; apply a strong knowledge of multiple industries and business practices; contribute to the growth and development of Deloitte’s Strategy & Business Design practice (Monitor Deloitte); and create a learning environment through leadership, participating in the development and delivery of industry training programs. To be eligible for this role, you must be legally able to work in Canada - the ability to enter the USA and Chile to work on client assignments is also an asset.

Senior Managers are leaders within the Strategy and Business Design practice (Monitor Deloitte) of Deloitte SR&T portfolio (Strategy, Risk & Transactions), principally responsible for business development and overall project delivery leadership. Senior Managers bring deep industry knowledge and expertise, such that they are viewed both internally and externally as “subject matter experts.” Additionally, Senior Managers are positioned directly below Partners and play an important internal role in firm management, leading practice-building initiatives and actively contributing to the practice’s distinct culture as organizational role models.

Specific responsibilities for our Senior Managers:

  • Cultivate and build long-term relationships with senior executive clients (i.e., C-suite, EVP, SVP level) of companies in Technology, Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications, and Sports sectors.
  • Identify and lead business development opportunities.
  • Set the intellectual agenda for all client engagements for which they are responsible.
  • Assume overall leadership in the delivery of projects, supported by a core team of consultants.
  • Offer deep expertise in areas of specialization – industry and skill-specific.
  • Cultivate an internal and external brand as a leading business advisor.
  • Apply a strong knowledge of industry trends and business practices.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the practice.
  • Actively participate in professional association, industry, firm and community events.
  • Create a learning environment through leadership, participating in the development and delivery of industry training programs.
  • Assume internal leadership roles focused on practice development (e.g., campus recruiting, thought leadership/IP development).
  • Actively mentor and coach team members and other junior resources across the practice.

About the team

The Strategy and Business Design practice (Monitor Deloitte) works with the world’s leading Technology, Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications, and Sports industry organizations to address issues that are most important to them—often working to resolve the highest-order strategic choices that fundamentally affect the future direction of their organizations and the industry. We not only bring our clients the insights and unconventional thinking that help them form strategies to anticipate risk and respond to change — we also use our experience and knowledge to help them bring those strategies to life. The team brings deep expertise across Technology, Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications, and Sports sectors to help clients address top management issues involving corporate/business unit strategy, customer strategy, innovation, and business transformation. Across all these areas, we help organizations with change management and build leadership competencies within our clients.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

As a Senior Manager, you must have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of cumulative experience in Technology, Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications, Sports, and/or Strategy Consulting.
  • Strong academic record; a Bachelor’s degree is a requirement, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Strategy, or related field is beneficial.
  • An understanding of and/or experience in the management consulting profession.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Technology, Media & Entertainment, Telecommunications and/or Sports industries.
  • Strong understanding of what strategy is: “a set of choices made with intent to gain competitive advantage.”
  • Proven track record of inspiring and leading teams through complex engagements.
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Experience with problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, decision making facilitation, documentation, stakeholder management, project profitability, and team leadership.
  • Experience in business development and delivering the full cycle of project management accountabilities.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and internationally on client assignments.
