About the role

We are looking for a collaborative and energetic Senior Consultant, Payroll to join our award-winning team, 2023 NPI Payroll Team of the Year. The person assigned to this role will be responsible for:


Team Support & Projects

  • Lead payroll projects and/or acquisitions in conjunction with payroll team members and our partners
  • Support and ensure a rigorous and beneficial transition of the organization's acquisitions and manage exceptions
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the seamless integration of payroll processes and needs
  • Participate in payroll testing in collaboration with the HRMS team
  • Act as a partner for all stakeholders
  • Act as a payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Perform a complete analysis and provide recommendations to standardize discrepancies related to earnings and allowable deductions
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Anticipate the challenges and impacts of projects
  • Provide recommendations on complex situations

Quality control

  • Carry out analyses of the various problems affecting processes and the employee experience, and proactively identify solutions
  • Compile the monthly KPI dashboard by gathering data from internal systems and files, identify trends, and provide explanations and recommendations on data variations
  • Implement quality control measures within the payroll team and across the organization to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and efficiency

Documentation & Training

  • Implement a documentation process to enhance the efficiency of processes and their communication aspects
  • Collaborate and support the team by identifying needs, developing a training plan, and coordinating analyst training
  • Provide support, coaching, and training to payroll analyst and our partners
  • Propose and support the development of e-learning tools to facilitate the training and support of new analysts
  • Ensure to monitor all legislative changes, analyze their impacts on our processes, and implement the necessary updates

What you'll bring to us:

  • Solid technical knowledge of payroll and project management skills
  • Minimum 10-15 years experience in payroll (National Payroll Institute certification is an asset)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Workday system
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of learning principles, training methods and techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written) to engage with various stakeholders and business partners across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, be proactive, and take ownership
  • Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate a training plan
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate projects within deadlines
  • Ability to prepare training content, learning tools and user guides in document or website format
  • Customer/employee service oriented
  • Ability to summarize complex situations effectively
  • Ability to offer advice and support to team members
  • Ability to produce detailed, technical documents
  • Strong innovative, creative, and problem-solving skills
  • Team player, autonomous and highly organized
  • Bilingualism required (French and English). You will need to interact regularly with colleagues across the country.
