Beautiful St. Paul is located approximately 200 km northeast of Edmonton, in the Lakeland Region with a population of over 5,800. The area is rich with lakes, rivers, forests, and rolling hills, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. The Generalist Public Health Nurse, based in or out of the St. Paul Public Health office, is Alberta Health Services' frontline representative delivering public health services in the North Zone. This key position works in partnership with a multidisciplinary team and community stakeholders.
The incumbent will:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, while advocating for patients and their families. You will support an integrated, holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will ensure safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care aligned with AHS values.
Note: Provisional Permit Holders will be paid $39.58/hour - $54.16/hour. Upon registration as a Registered Nurse, pay will be adjusted to the applicable rate per AHS/UNA agreement.
Required: Completion of an accredited nursing program, active or eligible registration with CRNA, current BCLS-HCP certification. If not practiced within 5 years, completion of specific courses is required.
Additional: Strong critical thinking, assessment, communication, organizational, and counseling skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 lbs; comfortable driving in all weather conditions; recent experience in public health nursing supporting communicable disease control, immunization, and healthy beginnings.
Preferred: Baccalaureate degree in nursing or relevant community practice experience; maternal/newborn certifications such as breastfeeding and childbirth education.
