Job description

We are recruiting a Health Safety Officer for one of our key sites which processes lime and limestone. This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, administering, and directing all environmental and safety activities on site and supporting the Site Manager to deliver safe and environmentally compliant operations. The role will ensure that all employees and contractors are trained in and understand their safety and environmental responsibilities and will:

Key focus areas the role will include:

Report and Investigate safety and environmental accidents/incidents for the prevention and re-occurrence.

Run injury management, medical surveillance programs, return to work programs and workers compensation related investigations.

Conduct environmental sampling, review results and report on-site compliance to regulatory and environmental license conditions.

Carry out and review risk assessments and special assessments as required by business.

Accompany auditors and regulatory inspectors during on-site inspections with the Site Manager. Oversee any corrective actions arising from identified deficiencies.

Identify areas where training / certification is required for the staff to meet the standards and competency imposed by legislation, industry codes, regulations, or guidelines.

Arrange and implement such training / certification once identified.

Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and implement such changes where relevant.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Science, or related field. Safety coursework or involvement with HSE procedures, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), and safety management is preferred.

Preferably significant experienceof working experience in a similar capacity in a manufacturing environment or construction industry.

Well-versed with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, knowledge in ISO 9001, EMS 14001 & OHSAS 18001, compliance process, DOSH, and Safety & Health requirements.

Certified Registered Safety & Health Officer with DOSH.

The successful candidate will have a qualification in safety and or environment management or equivalent (Green Book Holder).

A high level of knowledge of relevant regulations, compliance and statutory obligation is required as is a valid driver’s license and skills in using Microsoft office suite.

An ability to manage internal and external stakeholders is necessary.
