About the department

UOB Innovation Hub 2 (InnoHub2) is a UOB-wholly owned subsidiary and a Centre of Excellence based in Malaysia, providing Group Business Services (GBS) to support the UOB Group. Started in 2021 with technology application design, development, and support, InnoHub2 is expanding beyond technology services to deliver other business services to support the Bank’s growth ambition. Job Description

This role requires the incumbent to manage and oversee KYC and CDD requirements in customer onboarding and periodic reviews, with a key focus on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to address AML / CFT & Sanctions concerns. Customer segments include Wholesale Banking Corporate and Investment Banking customers in Singapore and other countries.

In this role, the primary responsibilities are:

  1. Support the Head AFC Ops (COE) in taking ownership, accountability, and execution of the overall AML CDD strategic program for the Corporates & Investment Banking segment.
  2. Review and work with key stakeholders to enhance work processes to achieve operational efficiency while ensuring consistent interpretation and implementation of Group Compliance AML/CFT policies and framework.
  3. Revise and update local SOP and workflow processes for operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  4. Provide timely management reporting and conduct AFC-related training to the team.
  5. Highlight potential concerns/risks and proactively share best risk management practices.
  6. Ensure SLAs supported by the teams are met.
  7. Responsible for checking and signing off complex and high-risk customer due diligence profiles for all jurisdictions.
  8. Work with Head AFC Ops (COE) and Group AFC Ops to manage queries during audits for favorable review outcomes.
  9. Oversee and manage KYC teams performing CDD fulfillment to meet bank and regulatory requirements.
  10. Focus on procedures and processes to enable KYC teams to achieve monthly satisfactory scores for Key Operational Risk Indicator (KORI) metrics.
  11. Provide oversight to ensure alignment with the bank’s management principles for effective risk and controls and connectivity across teams.
  12. Manage business efficiency of Overseas Branch Entities via centralization platform by ensuring relevant policies are reviewed and updated.
  13. Maintain Swift KYC Registry of Bank’s counterparties and respond to RFIs.
  14. Support Group AFC Ops in FACTCA and CRS reporting matters.

Requirements

The primary requirements of the incumbent include:

  1. A strong track record in risk and regulatory matters related to KYC and financial crimes risks, ensuring customer due diligence is executed properly, with a thoughtful approach rather than a tick-box exercise.
  2. Experience in analyzing and quantifying complex strategic issues related to AML CDD, transactions, and activities surveillance.
  3. Proven experience in managing people and relationships through supervisory roles, with skills to develop, coach, and grow teams.
  4. Ability to advise senior stakeholders confidently, providing advice on customer due diligence requirements.
  5. Strong influencing skills to align behaviors with the Bank’s commitment against financial crimes, maintaining high integrity and exercising prudent judgment.
  6. Certification as an AML specialist (e.g., CAMS / Diploma in AML) from a recognized institution is advantageous.
