We're looking for a Backend Software Engineer (Node.js) to join our engineering team in Malaysia and take ownership of critical backend services - from APIs and architecture to performance optimization and deployment.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives on building reliable systems, writing clean code, and solving tough backend challenges. You'll work closely with product, data, and frontend teams to bring scalable solutions to life, fast.

This role is based in Malaysia with a hybrid work arrangement.

• Design, build, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Node.js and modern frameworks (e.g., NestJS, ExpressJS, GraphQL).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new features and drive technical decisions.
• Ensure production systems are scalable, stable, and secure, with strong monitoring and alerting in place.
• Refactor legacy systems for performance, maintainability, and clarity.
• Lead and participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Support integration, deployment, and post-release debugging to ensure system reliability.
• Help define and uphold backend engineering best practices across the team.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of full-time experience in backend engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, with practical experience using frameworks like NestJS, ExpressJS, or GraphQL.
• Solid knowledge of databases such as MongoDB, MySQL, or similar.
• Familiarity with tools like Postman, Selenium, Cypress, or Puppeteer.
• A strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Clear, professional communication and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team.
• Based in Malaysia and open to hybrid work.

• Experience deploying services to AWS, GCP, or other cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Exposure to Test-Driven Development (TDD) or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Portfolio or GitHub repositories that showcase your technical capabilities.
• Prior experience working in a high-growth or startup environment.
