Job description
Overview

Welcome to Addleshaw Goddard - an international law firm, almost 250 years in the making. We’re trusted by over 3000 major organisations, including 51 FTSE 100 companies, to solve problems, deliver deals, defend rights, comply with regulations and mitigate risk. Our work spans more than 50 areas of business law, paving the way to deliver the best possible outcomes for clients across multiple industries. Appointed time and again, we help them do business, operate and grow - effectively and safely - in over 100 countries worldwide. And while the challenges our clients bring us may vary, we approach and solve them with the same, single-minded focus: finding the smartest way to achieve the biggest impact. From the work we do to the culture we foster and the partnerships we form, every last part of Addleshaw Goddard is driven by three core values: quality, imagination, and impact. We welcome everyone, support people to achieve their full potential, and always seek smart ways to have a positive impact – for our clients, colleagues, and communities around the world.

Addleshaw Goddard's Business Services and Innovation team are an exciting place to begin and shape your career as a graduate. All teams work closely with each other and with the four core legal groups, playing an integral role in the delivery of a premium service to our clients.

Wherever you join us – in IT, BD & Marketing, HR or Innovation you will find yourself working within a fast-paced, innovative environment.

What team will you be joining?

This role sits within our Human Resources Team, which operates across our London, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, and Dubai offices, supporting the business internationally. The HR team is structured into several specialist areas, including Learning and Development, Reward, Resourcing, HR Operations, HR Business Partnering, and the Responsible Business team.

As part of the HR Business Partnering team, you\'ll work closely with the wider HR team and key stakeholders across the business to provide guidance, support, and coaching. AG is committed to continuous improvement and innovation, so you\'ll play a key role in driving forward new initiatives, annual processes, and projects.

This is a varied, fast-paced, and diverse role within an inclusive, collaborative, and friendly team. You\'ll also benefit from excellent training and development opportunities, including sponsorship to complete your CIPD qualification, allowing you to gain practical experience while earning a professional qualification.

At AG, we pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and agile working culture, offering flexibility to balance employee needs with those of the team, firm, and clients. We actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and communities, and our employee networks and inclusion initiatives ensure we celebrate the unique differences that make us who we are.

What will the role involve?

Responsibilities

Based in our Manchester office, this role will involve occasional travel to our other UK offices as required. You\'ll support the firm\'s growth and development plans by taking on a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Business Partnering
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and employees.
    • Acting as a trusted advisor, providing guidance and support.
    • Supporting the HR Manager in developing and implementing HR initiatives.
  • Employee Relations
    • Assisting the HR Manager with employee relations cases and providing timely and appropriate support to line managers.
    • Maintaining accurate HR records and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Supporting employees with family leave matters, flexible working applications, and benefits information.
  • Resourcing
    • Assisting with recruitment processes and onboarding for new joiners.
    • Supporting leavers through the resignation process, conducting exit interviews, and providing feedback.
  • Performance Management
    • Supporting the annual performance check-in processes.
    • Assisting with the annual salary and bonus review.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Producing management information (MI) and reports to identify trends within teams.
    • Contributing to ad-hoc projects and supporting the HR Manager as needed.
    • Supporting with DE&I projects across the various teams.
    • Assisting with the delivery of the firm-wide engagement survey.
What skills will help you succeed in this role?
  • A strong desire to develop and progress within HR.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, tailored to different audiences.
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
  • Resilience and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness.
  • Undergraduate degree (in any discipline)
Our approach: Imagine the best you can be

At AG, our people are at the heart of everything we do. You\'ll have the chance to work on high-calibre projects alongside supportive colleagues who care for one another and our clients. If you\'re ready to embrace the opportunity, we\'d love to hear from you.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at Addleshaw Goddard

At Addleshaw Goddard, we recognise the importance of nurturing an inclusive culture to help us attract, retain and enable our people to be the best they can be.

In 2020 we introduced a new, Board approved inclusion strategy, which included:

  • Allocating senior leadership roles across 5 key strands of inclusion (Disability, Ethnicity, Gender, LGBTQ+ and Social Mobility), including senior partners and business services leads.
  • The setting of targets for ethnicity and gender across our business.
  • The setting of short-, medium- and long-term goals to keep us accountable.
  • Since 2020 we have kept our strategy under review to ensure that it remains ambitious and reflects the needs of our people. And hope that this strategic approach will create greater equality within our firm and foster a greater sense of belonging amongst our people.

Now in 2024, Our Commitment To DE&I Remains Firm. We\'ve Invested Heavily In Our Employee Networks (which Now Have Nearly 700 Members) Which Include

  • Ability Forum (disability and carers)
  • AG Embrace (race and ethnicity)
  • Open AG (LGBTQ+)
  • The Vine (gender)
  • Social Mobility Volunteers (social mobility)

We also have two faith networks (our Muslim and Jewish communities) which colleagues can join.
