Job description
Overview

Saskatoon Wellbeing Employment Enterprise Program (SWEEP) is a new social enterprise developed by Quint Development that is aimed at improving safety and well-being in Saskatoon. SWEEP’s services are centred around urban maintenance (e.g., sidewalk repair) and neighbourhood revitalization (e.g., garbage cleanup). SWEEP employs community members exiting corrections and/or facing complex barriers to successfully joining the workforce. In addition to stable employment, members of the SWEEP crew receive life skills training and wraparound support from finding housing to reconnecting with family and navigating parole.

In partnership between the Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives (CCSC) and Quint Development, this research project evaluates the economic and social outcomes from SWEEP’s first year of operation, including community perceptions of safety and wellbeing and its impact on program participants. The Project Manager and Qualitative Researcher will contribute to the project by: 1) working with Quint Development and the CCSC to develop a framework and plan for the evaluation; 2) spearhead and manage the evaluation from inception to completion; and 3) pursue additional grant opportunities related to the project.

Accountabilities
  • Develop, operationalize, and manage impact measurement and project evaluation strategy
  • Collect, compile, and manage quantitative and qualitative data from various sources
  • Obtain and manage research ethics approval (e.g., data management, compliance)
  • Catalogue data sources and record processes used to identify and obtain them
  • Conduct interviews and focus groups with SWEEP participants and other key stakeholders
  • Analyze interviews and other relevant data
  • Develop and prepare ongoing reporting to track project outcomes and impact
  • Develop impact stories and prepare and deliver presentations, reports, policy briefs, and articles for diverse audiences
  • Engage, liaise, and collaborate with key stakeholders (e.g., community organizations, City of Saskatoon)
  • Produce a comprehensive report on the analyses and findings
  • Lead the development of grant applications related to the project
  • Develop scholarly products that emerge from this evaluation, as well as complete the incomplete academic manuscript pertaining to the Build Up Saskatoon research project
Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and marginalized people – particularly people who are un/under-housed, use substances, have been criminalized and/or incarcerated, and mental health consumer/survivors – preferred
  • Experience working in a university research environment is preferred
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis is desired
  • Experience engaging with public servants, community associations, and not-for-profit sector employees is an asset
  • Experience with grant development is an asset
