ASCO's Assistant Project Manager assists the Project Manager or Project Director in providing the necessary planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and control of each project assigned to him/her and to successfully complete each of these projects, safely, on time and below budget to meet the continuing growth and profit objectives of the Company. Some of the Assistant Project Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
- Assist, where requested, the estimating team in the preparation of tenders, including soliciting bids from subtrades and suppliers, reviewing plans and specifications and suggesting construction methods/ techniques to minimize construction schedule and assisting on the closing day of the tender by evaluating bids and proposals.
- Provide feedback to management and estimators on subcontractor performance as part of ongoing Company vendor reviews.
- Be the liaison between the site and the office in the administration of each contract(s)/project(s) assigned to him/her, as well be the liaison between the Company, the Customer and the Consultants.
- Keep Customers & Consultants informed of the progress of their project in a timely manner.
- Build relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Work closely with Customer and Consultants on projects to track their development.
- Attend the New Job Conference to receive the new contract from the estimating team, get familiar with the details of the project and assign the qualified site personnel and make certain that the site superintendent is thoroughly familiar with plans and specifications.
- Assist in preparing preliminary project baseline schedules using MS Project.
- Prepare, update, and maintain project tracking schedule at least on a weekly basis.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years construction management experience required.
- Experienced in complete management of construction functions.
- Position requires experience in subcontractor qualification & coordination, job planning & scheduling and negotiating.
- Preferred previous site superintendence and/or field experience
- Preferred College Degree in Construction or Engineering Technology or University Degree in a construction/engineering related discipline.
- Ability to comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write and/or verbally communicate with vendors and subcontractors effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
- Ability to solve logistical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Spatial ability to layout the proper scheduling system that provides for on time deliveries of materials and smooth coordination of subcontractors to meet the construction schedules.
