Job Summary
Closely collaborates with the HoD and Executive Directors: Civil Engineering in directing, co-ordinating, initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & control, integration, and closing of the Civil Engineering Projects.
Drives general Civil Engineering related design and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and guide Engineers, technicians, draughts persons and delegate work effectively in the Civil Engineering Department.
- Ensure that all employees in the team are supplied with the relevant tools required to perform jobs.
- Formulate systems for smooth running of the Civil Engineering section to enable synergy and coherence.
- Design, report in Civil Engineering section to meet project objectives.
- Preparation of proposals, tender and contract documents for infrastructure services nationally and internationally.
- Construction monitoring and implementation of site construction work as required, including ensuring compliance with design/specifications and standards, adherence to programme, and preparing reports.
- Perform ad-hoc office duties as assigned by the HoD: Civil Engineering.
- Guide and train engineers and technicians in design and other necessary skills for professional development.
- Stay updated with technology development and research in water and wastewater engineering.
- Coordinate and supervise the production of technical drawings, design, and reporting inputs.
- Client liaison including meetings and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with the company's ISO Quality Management System.
- Assist with preparing requests for proposals, expressions of interest, panel applications, and tenders.
- Manage projects, monitor performance and profitability.
Qualifications and Experience / Minimum Requirements
- BEng (Civil) or equivalent degree.
- Professional registration or registrability with ECSA as PrEng, and SAICE.
- Extensive experience in bulk water and wastewater municipal infrastructure, storm water systems, earthworks, basic road and drainage systems.
- Some process design experience is advantageous.
- Minimum 15 years in engineering design, management, and construction.
- Minimum 5 years after professional registration with recognized bodies.
- Proven leadership and management experience within a consulting firm.
- Legal knowledge of relevant acts and standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and civil/water design software.
- Driver's license is essential.
