About the teamThe L&H Valuation & Analysis team for Swiss Re Asia is responsible for delivering timely actuarial valuation, reporting and analysis activities for all L&H reinsurance business written in Asia. It comprises people across Asia and are responsible for all the corporate actuarial requirements of the L&H business.
Activities of the team include:
- The calculation and monitoring of reserves;
- Conducting experience studies and recommending assumptions to Reserving Committee;
- Monitoring and reporting of regulatory capital requirements;
- Supporting the Appointed Actuary in meeting their statutory obligations; and
- Providing a service to other functions and units, including Pricing and Portfolio Management & Insights.
About the RoleYou will be at the forefront of financial reporting and business analysis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your actuarial expertise in a collaborative environment while supporting the appointed actuary's internal and external responsibilities. You'll balance technical actuarial work with process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and accuracy in our reporting frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform IFRS 17 reporting activities, including quantification of impacts, analysis of results, and preparation of management information
- Conduct actuarial valuations for Family Retakaful + SEA traditional business, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Support the appointed actuary in fulfilling internal and external obligations
- Analyze experience and performance of the L&H Retakaful portfolio.
- Develop and enhance reporting processes, templates, and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the actuarial function
About you• 4-8 years of L&H (re)insurance experience in either valuation or pricing functions
• Attained or close to attaining Fellowship in FIA, FIAA, FFA, FSA or another internationally recognized actuarial qualification
• Good understanding of IFRS and/or local reserving standards in Malaysia
• Proficient in MS Excel with strong technical skills in data analysis
• Fluent English communication skills
Additional nice to have skillsets/knowledge:
• Knowledge of (Re)takaful Family business in pricing or valuation
• Experience with actuarial modelling software
• Familiarity with Malaysia's (re)insurance and (re)takaful industry
