Mid / Senior Automation Tester (Series B) - 100% remote

This position is for a Mid / Senior Automation Tester working remotely.
Projects
- 50% of workload has been automated, the goal is to transition the remaining.
- Set up customised automation scripts to tackle specific manual routines and improve team productivity.
- Working closely with the Engineering, Product & Data teams to understand their goals regarding automation testing, educate, and manage their expectations.
- Maintain API & UI automation suites that contain test scenarios using Cucumber / Playwright / Gherkin.
Responsibilities
- Developing test strategies, drawing up test documents, identifying faults, and reviewing QA reports.
- Implementing QA checklist, RCA (root cause analysis) process, and multiple key QA indicators for quality tracking.
- Design automation scripts and ensure scripts are executable on CICD tools.
- Define and improve testing practices, tools, and processes with the goal of verifying new features and preventing regressions.
Team & Culture
- Reporting to the CTO, you will be the senior in a QA team of 2.
- This is an Individual Contributor role that mentors and provides guidance & training to 1 other QA.
- Drive initiatives, be proactive, and do not wait for instructions (There is not an SOP for everything).
- Weekly 1-2-1 with the CTO to discuss strategy, plans/priorities - you are expected to lead the conversation.
Must Have
- 3-4 years in automation testing, with any automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, TestNG, etc.).
- Experience in Start-up / Scale-up / Scrum & Agile environments.
- Clearly articulate benefits of automation relative to your experience, projects & achievements (add to your CV).
Nice to have
- Knowledge of application functions, bug fixing, and testing protocols.
- Regression testing, performance, profiling & load testing, BDD testing.
Levels
- This is a mid-senior level; you will have 10-15 years engineering experience and 3-4 in automation testing.
- In 1 year's time, there is potential for promotion and to lead a newly formed testing team.
Note
- Preference is to hire from start-up / scale-up product companies.
- Banks, telco, outsource, software houses, and GLCs are not suitable.
- This job is not suitable for manual testers.
Location
- 100% remote (The team is spread across Malaysia).
