React Native Tech Lead

Duration: 6-12 months +
Location: Hybrid, 2 days in London OR Chatham
Pay: negotiable, inside IR35
We are looking for a React Native Technical Lead to join a newly formed team delivering a critical, high-visibility project. This role requires a hands-on, technically strong individual who can drive development efforts and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and development of mobile and web applications using React Native (Expo), React.js, Node.js
- Collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions
- Develop high-performance, reusable UI components and integrate third-party libraries and APIs
- Set up project modules and repositories with appropriate tooling
- Optimise application performance and support native module integration as needed
- Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, and mentoring
- Drive DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment
- Contribute to app releases on the App Store and Google Play
- Support production go-live and post-launch activities
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong proficiency in ES6, React Native (Expo), React.js, and Node.js
- Solid experience with state management tools (e.g. Redux, Context API)
- Familiarity with modern React tools (hooks, navigation, maps, gestures, Axios/React Query)
- Understanding of mobile UI/UX standards for iOS and Android
- Experience with unit/integration testing, Git workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
- Comfortable working with native modules, real-time data, authentication, media handling, offline features
- Experience in deploying apps to App Store and Play Store
Desirable:
- Experience with databases such as Firebase or MongoDB
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and screen reader testing
