Principal Accountabilities
  • Lead the technical review and challenge of syndicate capital models, including annual submissions, deep dives, and major model changes, to ensure robustness and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a decision-maker in the capital approval process by peer reviewing technical papers and supporting the Head of Capital Oversight and Chief Actuary in oversight activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on complex capital modelling issues, offering guidance to internal teams and contributing to the development of best practices.
  • Mentor and develop junior actuaries, promoting technical excellence and professional growth within the team.

  • Proven track record of working within the Lloyd's or London Market environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex actuarial projects to completion.
  • Experience in presenting technical findings and strategic recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders, including regulators.
  • Capital Modelling Expertise: In-depth knowledge of non-life capital modelling techniques, including model validation, parameterisation, and scenario testing, ideally within the Lloyd's or London Market context.
  • Regulatory Frameworks: understanding of Solvency II / UK, Lloyd's Capital Guidance, and broader regulatory capital requirements.
  • Market Dynamics: Awareness of the Lloyd's market structure, syndicate operations, and the strategic role of capital oversight in market stability.
  • Analytical Tools & Techniques: Familiarity with actuarial modelling platforms (e.g., Igloo, ReMetrica, Tyche) and data analysis tools used in capital modelling.
  • Governance & Oversight: Understanding internal governance processes, risk management frameworks, and the role of actuarial input in regulatory decision-making.
  • Communication of Technical Concepts: Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fully qualified Actuary with FIA status (or equivalent) from the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
