Job summary
A recruitment agency is seeking a Financial Accountant in Durban. The role involves preparing financial reports and various reconciliations, with a preference for candidates with 2-3 years experience in the financial services or insurance sectors. Candidates should possess a B. Com Accounting and strong analytical skills. Responsibilities include processing accounting entries and supporting audits.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in financial accounting.
- Experience in Insurance or Financial services preferred.
- Thorough understanding of IFRS, VAT, and Income Tax.
Responsibilities
- Process accounting entries and prepare supporting schedules.
- Prepare monthly petty cash, bank, and GL reconciliations.
- Prepare VAT and Income Tax computations and related tax returns.
- Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare related confirmations.
- Compile supporting documentation for audits.
- Support implementation of internal controls.

Red Ember Recruitment, on behalf of our client, is seeking to hire a Financial Accountant who will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial reports for the assigned business units.
- Process accounting entries and prepare supporting schedules.
- Prepare monthly petty cash, bank and GL reconciliations.
- Prepare VAT and Income Tax computations and related tax returns.
- Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare related confirmations.
- Compile supporting documentation and schedules required for external and internal audits.
- Support the implementation of internal controls, report financial discrepancies and errors.
- Assist in the preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
- B. Com Accounting or any other related qualification.
- Experience and Knowledge required.
- Minimum of two to three (2 - 3) years’ experience.
- Experience in Insurance or Financial services is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of IFRS, VAT and Income Tax.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- MS Office with solid Excel skills (intermediate).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and competing demand.
