Job summary

A logistics company is seeking a Bookkeeper responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and managing day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in logistics, along with proficiency in Pastel and Excel. This is a temp-to-perm role based in Gauteng, South Africa.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years' bookkeeping experience, preferably in logistics, transport or fleet management industry.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, journals, and accounting records.
  • Manage invoicing, debtors, creditors, and cash book reconciliation.
  • Handle EMP's returns and VAT returns.
  • Manage asset register and company asset insurance.

Job Purpose

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of accounting functions within the logistics company. This includes managing day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciling accounts, handling supplier and customer transactions, and supporting month‑end reporting. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and strong organizational skills in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric, Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance (advantageous)
  • 3–5 years' bookkeeping experience, preferably in logistics, transport or fleet management industry
  • Strong experience with Pastel accounting software
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools
