Job summary

A global energy management company is seeking an Electrical Assembly Operator to assemble, configure, and test electrical products in Gauteng, South Africa. The ideal candidate will hold an N6 diploma and an electrical trade certificate, with a minimum of 3 years experience in the electrical manufacturing sector. Strong mechanical and electrical skills are essential to contribute to quality and efficiency in the assembly process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum +3 years working in the electrical device manufacturing/OEM industry.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Job description
Your Mission:

To assemble, configure, and test related electrical components/products in accordance with specifications and quality standards. The multi skilled operator ensures efficient, safe and high-quality customization processes, contributing to on time delivery and continuous improvement.

What will you do?
Assembly and production
  • Assemble and modify units based on customer orders and work instructions.
  • Perform visual and functional inspections to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Manage product traceability through accurate recording of serial numbers, batch details and configuration data.
  • Handle tools and fixtures safety and correctly during assembly and dismantling.
Equipment Operation and Technical Support
  • Conduct basic equipment checks, calibration verification, and autonomous maintenance activities.
  • Identify and resolve minor issues on the line and tools.
  • Report abnormalities and recurring faults to the maintained team.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
  • Adhere to safety procedures, including the use of proper PPE and LOTO where applicable.
  • Ensure all customised products meet safety, quality and customer standards.
  • Participate in 5S and workplace initiatives to maintain clean and efficient work area.
  • Record non-conformances and support in Root Cause Analysis and corrective implementation.
Production performance
  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly production targets for quality, service and line output.
  • Monitor and report on performance KPIs.
  • Contribute ideas to improve productivity and process reliability.
Continuous Improvement and Teamwork
  • Participate in Kaizen, 5S and other Lean Manufacturing activities to enhance efficiency.
  • Support cross functional training to become competent across multiple lines.
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams (Methods, planning, warehouse, quality) to resolve issues.
  • Share best practices and mentor new operators when required.
