We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our expanding UK practice and serve as the key bridge between our international bookkeeping teams and our UK review team.
This role requires someone experienced in UK accounting, VAT, and tax compliance who can work independently, review deliverables prepared offshore, and ensure work is client-ready before partner sign-off.
The position is ideal for an accountant who thrives in a digital, paperless environment, is confident communicating directly with clients, and can take ownership of the review and preparation of UK accounts and tax returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Review bookkeeping completed by international teams (India and South Africa) and prepare final accounts for UK companies and self-assessments.
- Ensure all work is complete, accurate, and compliant before submission to senior management for sign-off.
- Liaise between global teams to manage workflow, resolve queries, and maintain consistent communication.
- Communicate directly with UK clients via Teams, chat, or email to gather outstanding information or clarify queries.
- Draft and prepare company accounts, VAT returns, and self-assessment tax returns using Xero and TaxCalc.
- Maintain an organised, paperless working environment via shared drives and collaboration platforms.
- Some bookkeeping on an adhoc basis
- Contribute to continuous process improvements to remove bottlenecks and enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in UK accounting, including VAT and self-assessment preparation.
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and tax processes.
- Experience reviewing rather than performing basic bookkeeping work.
- Confident communicating directly with clients and remote colleagues.
- Proficiency with Xero (essential) and TaxCalc (advantageous).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to collaborate.
