My client is a leading Resin and Polymers manufacturer based in Wigan that supplies products to a range of industries globally. They are looking to employ an experienced Safety Process Engineer to bolster their established laboratory team. The ideal candidate will have a background in Chemical Engineering, COMAH site experience, and knowledge of various Health, Safety, and Environmental legislations. The candidate should be based within a commutable distance of Wigan.
Process Safety Engineer Position Overview
- Collaborate with process chemicals and control engineers to ensure the production plant operates efficiently and maximizes output.
- Design plant and equipment configurations that are adaptable to different products and process technologies, considering environmental and economic factors.
- Design, install, and commission new production machinery, including monitoring development and troubleshooting.
- Identify and address safety issues related to operators, the environment, processes, and products at all project stages.
- Organize and chair hazard studies such as HAZOPs, SIL/LOPA, and HAZIDs.
- Coordinate the preparation of major hazard risk assessments.
- Provide functional safety expertise to the engineering department.
- Define safety bases related to chemicals and operations, including fire and explosion prevention.
Position Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of relevant chemical industry experience.
- Effective problem-solving skills, with experience leading cross-functional problem-solving teams.
- Proficiency in process safety and loss prevention techniques such as HAZOP and PHA.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of H&S and Environmental legislation, including COMAH, DSEAR, and ATEX.
- Understanding of manufacturing improvement strategies.
- Local to Wigan.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
