The Fashion Technical Team at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is seeking a Creative Pattern Cutting Technician to help students bring their ideas to life.

About the Role
As a Creative Pattern Cutting Technician you will:
• Support and Advise: Supervise and guide students in our fashion workshops, helping them with both creative and technical challenges.
• Foster Inclusion: Help create a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive community resource that is responsive to student needs.
• Promote Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and best practices.
• Become part of a supportive and creative team.
About You
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences. Whether you’re starting your technical career or bringing experience from another field, we encourage you to apply.
You may have:
• A qualification at QCF Level 5 (or equivalent) in a related area, or
• Significant relevant work experience in the fashion industry or an educational setting
• Significant knowledge of contemporary and traditional pattern cutting, using specialist draping/bias techniques, creative flat pattern cutting, hand-crafted tailoring and three-dimensional realisation methods
• Experience in using, maintaining, and managing the safety of Fashion workshop equipment such as industrial sewing machines, overlockers, steam irons, etc.
• Be able to understand a wide range of unorthodox and student-designed woven, non-woven, knitted, printed and embellished fabrics and how best to cut for these;
