Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Academics and general direction of the Education Director, the Wiikwemkoong Anishinaabemowin Kinoomaagewin (WAK) Lead will oversee the coordination and supervision of the WAK program. The WAK Lead will develop, plan, implement and assist with the facilitation of Anishinaabemowin within the school settings from Hub Centre to Grade 12.
RESPONSIBILITES:
➢ Will oversee the coordination of Wiikwemkoong Anishinaabemowin Kinoomaagewin Program.
➢ Adhere to policies of Wikwemikong Board of Education and Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory
➢ Develop forms/templates for the delivery of Anishinaabemowin with the school setting, etc.
➢ Implement and maintain professional standards of practice within the program.
➢ Liaise with Anishinaabemowin Specialist Instructors and Anishinaabemowin Mentors, internal and external agencies, supports, families, and stakeholders.
➢ Monitor the program’s progress, review workplans, and adjust as needed.
➢ Provide weekly benchmarks and weekly, monthly, and annual reports.
➢ Coordinate and participate in staff and team meetings, training, and professional development.
➢ Other duties as assigned by Superintendent of Academics and/or Education Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
➢ Degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, or a related field.
➢ Three years of direct management and administration experience.
➢ Three years of direct experience working with children and families in mental, social, or health services.
➢ Effective communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
➢ Experience in curriculum development and/or resource creation for Indigenous language learning.
➢ Fluency in Anishinaabemowin or willingness to actively engage in language learning.
➢ Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek culture, traditions, language, and history.
➢ Provide a cover letter, resume, and three current work-related references.
➢ Provide a current original vulnerable/criminal reference check (within the last 90 days) upon offer of employment.
