We are looking for a skilled and motivated Pastry Sous Chef to support the Pastry Chef in leading the pastry team.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical ability, a passion for dessert innovation, and experience managing operations in a high-paced pastry environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Pastry Chef in overseeing daily pastry production and staff supervision.
- Prepare and decorate desserts, cakes, and pastries to the highest standards.
- Help develop and test new recipes and seasonal items.
- Manage mise en place, stock rotation, and inventory planning.
- Enforce hygiene, safety, and HACCP protocols at all times.
- Train and guide junior pastry staff and commis to ensure consistency.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
- Take charge of the pastry section in the absence of the Pastry Chef.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4-5 years of pastry kitchen experience, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Pastry Arts, Hospitality, or a related field.
- HACCP Certified with a solid understanding of food safety regulations.
- Expertise in baking techniques, chocolate work, and plated dessert presentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Creative, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet production deadlines.
