Job summary
A leading metallurgical company in Cape Town is seeking a dedicated Diesel Mechanic who is detail-oriented and process-driven. The role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the truck fleet in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a Grade 12 education, a Diesel Mechanic Red Seal Trade Test, and at least two years of relevant experience. The Truck Workshop department currently has a vacancy for a detail orientated, process-driven, dedicated individual to join their team. This position requires someone who is able to work in a fast paced, demanding and pressurized environment.
Our comprehensive in-house technical facilities, staffed by Qualified Engineers and Artisans, are responsible for our fleet and equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for attending to breakdowns, inspecting, repairing and maintaining our fleet and equipment.
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Newly/Recently Qualified Diesel Mechanic Red Seal Trade Test certificate
- Code 10 Drivers License and valid PDP
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar environment specializing in truck fleet maintenance
- Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel)
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision
- Experience working with an Electronic Maintenance system
- Knowledgeable on the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Sound communication skills (understand, read and write English)
- Must be prepared to work overtime when required
- Strength to handle materials and tools (physically fit)
- Must be of sober habits
- Hands on practical approach to the job
- Hard working and self-motivated
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Enjoy practical and manual work & be able to work in a pressurized environment
