Role overview:
The Head of Retail is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for Weylandts’ retail division. This individual will lead and manage all Retail Managers, driving sales performance, operational excellence, and a consistently exceptional customer experience across all stores.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Retail will shape and execute the company’s retail strategy, ensuring that revenue targets, retail strategy, customer satisfaction, and brand standards are achieved and sustained. This is both a strategic and operational role, requiring a commercially focused leader who can think big, act fast, and lead teams to high performance. This role represents a critical evolution in the retail leadership structure and will play a key role in Weylandts’ ongoing growth.
Key responsibilities:
Performance Leadership
- Own and drive national sales and profitability targets across all stores.
- Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership on cross-functional initiatives and business priorities.
- Ensure Retail Managers and store teams are aligned with KPIs, sales goals, and incentive structures.
- Embed a performance-driven, results-oriented culture across the retail division.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the Retail Management team, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and collaboration.
- Partner with HR on recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and team development.
- Foster a positive team environment and drive employee engagement, motivation, and development.
- Maintain strong communication channels between the stores, head office, manufacturing and distribution.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure consistent and exceptional execution of Weylandts brand and operational standards, including merchandising, inventory control, and customer service.
- Monitor and improve in-store processes to optimise productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer journey.
- Implement best practices and introduce process improvements where needed, without compromising the brand’s standards.
Strategic Implementation
- Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to implement retail strategies aligned with business growth objectives.
- Champion the launch of new initiatives (e.g. store openings, promotions, systems changes) and ensure flawless execution at ground level.
- Regularly contribute insights from the field to inform broader organizationaldecision-making around product, pricing, service, and people.
What you bring:
- A business-related degree is required, further qualifications in retail leadership, operations, or business advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in senior multi-store retail management, with at least 5 years managing other managers (e.g. Area or Regional Managers).
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets, and KPIs across diverse retail environments.
- Background in premium, design, luxury retail environment preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other retail operations systems.
- Must be able and willing to travel frequently and work across various store locations nationally.
