Storybook Communications is hiring a PR Coordinator to join our team, working on a retail account. If successful, this full-time in-office role will be based in the client’s head office in Brackengate. If you have 1 to 3 years experience in PR or communications and want real exposure to national retail storytelling, media relations, and fast-moving campaigns, this role is for you. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership. Retail moves quickly, and you’ll need to keep up. Role overview The PR coordinator will primarily support and act as a key resource to the public relations manager. You’ll help drive day-to-day PR delivery while building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, media, influencers, and agency partners. You’ll be fully integrated into the client’s marketing team, while supported by a small, senior team at Storybook. Key responsibilities Media and PR support
Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and statementsMaintain and update targeted media lists across lifestyle, food, business, retail, and community mediaPitch stories to journalists and follow up professionallyMonitor media coverage daily and flag wins, risks, and opportunitiesAccount and campaign support
Support PR campaigns, store openings, and tactical retail moments at store level, including new store openingsAssist with influencer coordination when requiredHelp manage media requests, interviews, and content approvalsTrack deliverables, timelines, and approvals across the accountConduct regular store visits in Cape Town, minimum once per weekTravel nationally by car and air, as required.Work in-store on opening days to support launch activities and perform ad hoc duties on the ground as neededReporting and admin
Compile coverage reports and post-campaign summariesTrack KPIs and assist with basic insights and learningsKeep folders, trackers, and shared documents up to dateSupport general account administration to ensure nothing slips
