Our client is seeking the services of a highly capable Driver Assistant to be based in Cape Town.

The incumbent will be a responsible Driver Assistant, transporting and delivering Finished Goods to clients. Ensuring compliance with road safety regulations, company standards, and client requirements at all times.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Business Development Manager. The incumbent must have previous experience as driver / warehouse assistant. While interacting professionally with clients the incumbent will be responsible for safely transporting Finished Products to clients and ensuring damaged free on time in full deliveries.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS :

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :

• Ensure your vehicle check list is completed and submitted to the supervisor at the beginning of every shift. Report any damages immediately.
• Your delivery notebook together with the relevant checklists must be completed in full for every load and the stock recorded correctly.
• Ensure the relevant quality checks are performed as per procedure.
• Assist truck driver in making sure your load is secured, and that it is properly loaded by the third party to prevent damage to your truck.
• Ensure you action all request promptly and that you report any challenges immediately.
• Maintain constant communication with your supervisor regarding traffic issues, customer related delays etc.
• Ensure you offload and load as soon as possible.
• Assist in oversee the forklift drivers and ensure the stock is checked and correct.
• Ensure loading and offloading of stock onto your vehicle is done timeously to avoid any delays.
• Ensure that your documents or Invoices for each load, and that you check and ensure the stock corresponds with the documentation before departing. No stock will be allowed to leave the premises without invoice.
• Ensure you adhere to all safety regulations as per the induction training that you received.
• Ensure you adhere to the Road Traffic Act.
• Ensure your truck is washed regularly and kept clean.
• Report any damages, accidents or incidents immediately.
• Perform any other duties as require and assigned to you.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Code 10 driver’s License with valid PrDP (Advantage)
• 1-2 years’ experience in Warehousing / Driver Assistant
• Physical fitness (able to handle long hours and heavy cargo)
• Knowledge of road safety regulations
• Ability to communicate and influence effectively across the organisation.

• Internal : Operations Managers, Safety and Risk Personnel (SHEQ), Admin and Financial Departments, Human Resources, Sales Departments.
• External : Clients
