Production Labeling Planner and Buyer
Job summary
A recruitment agency in Durban is looking for a Production Labeling Planner and Buyer. The ideal candidate should have strong Excel and planning skills, and experience in supply chain management. Responsibilities include managing decoration requirements, issuing schedules for raw materials, and ensuring quality standards with suppliers. A degree in Supply Chain or a related field is preferred. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focusing on production and labeling processes.
Qualifications
- Experience in planning and buying in manufacturing or retail is advantageous.
- Experience with labeling, sleeves, and artwork is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Expedite decoration requirements for production facilities.
- Issue daily schedules for raw material requirements.
- Manage quality incidents with suppliers.

- Identify and expedite all decoration requirements (labeling/Sleeves) for on-site and off-site production facilities
- Issue daily schedules for Raw Material requirements
- Decoration stock updates for customer and sales team
- Monitoring of slow-moving and dead stocks
- Maintenance and management of decoration back-order report
- Management of quality incidents with suppliers (defective stock, color variations, etc.)
- Management of pricing with various decoration suppliers and relevant sales representatives
- Management of artwork changeovers (depletion of old artwork before new)
- Maintaining artwork file and register: updating file with new artwork, removing old artwork, and ensuring that the business has two signed hardcopies of each label
- Monitoring monthly stock levels in line with business parameters
- Advising Production and Planners of any exceptions that may be necessary for new product
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft office
- Supply Chain or Commercial Degree, diploma or the like will be advantageous
- Strong numeracy and planning skills essential
- Planning and buying experience in manufacturing, Packaging, or retail advantageous
- Planning and buying experience with labeling, sleeves, artwork
