Blair West is working with a leading midmarket investor to identify an experienced FD to join an existing portfolio business and help guide it towards exit. The investor seeks an ambitious, entrepreneurial, high-calibre, and experienced FD to be part of the senior management team of "the Business," a designer and manufacturer of capital equipment. The Business manufactures a small range of products sold across various sectors globally.

The Company has over 30 employees and a turnover of approximately £10m. About 95% of its revenues are from export sales. The business has been in the investor’s portfolio for 5 years. Initially challenged by management, quality, sales, and market conditions, it has now been re-platformed for growth. A new management team has resolved quality issues, moved to a modern facility, implemented efficient manufacturing lines, built a sales function under a new CCO, and renegotiated debt. The sales pipeline is at its strongest, and both management and investor aim to capitalize on these opportunities for an exit within 18 months.

The opportunity includes:

• Being a senior leader, partnering with the CEO and Board.
• Working closely with the Executive Chairman.
• Building and managing the finance function efficiently.
• Contributing to profitability and advising on financial implications.
• Collaborating with sales, marketing, and manufacturing teams.
• Setting budgets and KPIs, monitoring finance commitments, and covenants.
• Developing financial systems suitable for a PE-owned company.
• Overseeing the production of accurate financial reports and highlighting key points for the Board.
• Managing budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and highlighting trends for early action.
• Developing multi-year forecasts for strategic planning.
• Involvement in commercial decisions, including sales, marketing, and pricing.
• Managing FX needs and ensuring compliance with standards.
• Representing the business externally and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
• Maintaining good relationships with debt providers and meeting debt requirements.
• Building relationships with customers and suppliers.

• Procurement and supply chain management experience.
• Experience in international market routes, both direct and via distribution channels.
• Experience delivering presentations and managing stakeholders.
• Effective interaction with external parties like customers, suppliers, lenders, and investors.
