Job summary
A leading staffing agency in Durban is seeking a Board Cutter to measure and cut wood and board materials accurately. You will operate cutting machinery, ensure quality, and maintain safety standards while assisting customers. Ideal candidates have 1-2 years of relevant experience and good communication skills. This role involves physical labor and attention to detail.

Skills
We are currently looking for a Board Cutter to accurately measure, cut, and prepare wood and board materials according to customer requirements while ensuring safety, quality, and excellent service within the cutting department.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in a similar position (board cutting or timber yard).
- Knowledge of board types, timber products, and hardware materials.
- Ability to read measurements accurately and use measuring tools.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of saw operation.
- Physically fit and able to handle heavy lifting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Must be able to lift / build materials and stand for extended periods
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical strength
- Receive and interpret customer cutting instructions accurately.
- Measure, mark, and cut boards, chipboard, MDF, and timber to specified sizes.
- Operate and maintain cutting machinery safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all cuts are precise and meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
- Assist customers with loading and handling of cut materials.
- Perform regular inspections and basic maintenance on cutting equipment.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Report any damaged stock, faulty machinery, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
- Support general yard duties when required (e.g., offloading deliveries, stacking boards).
