Job summary
A leading academic institution in South Africa is seeking a procurement professional to manage supplier relationships and optimize pricing in a dynamic FMCG environment. The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of procurement experience, a degree in Supply Chain Management, and the ability to drive cost savings and operational improvements. Key responsibilities include supplier management, demand planning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This position offers opportunities for career growth within the FMCG sector.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years’ procurement experience within FMCG or food distribution.
- Understanding of landed cost, margin impact, and inventory control disciplines.
- Confident stakeholder communicator able to resolve supply issues under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier management, including pricing, MOQs, lead times, and performance tracking.
- Support supplier negotiations, benchmarking, and sourcing initiatives.
- Ensure procurement processes are followed, including POs, GRNs, approvals, and audit compliance.

- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimise procurement efficiency
Essential:
- Degree in Supply Chain Management
- 5–8 years’ procurement experience within FMCG or food distribution
- Proven supplier management capability across pricing, MOQs, and lead times
- Strong forecasting, planning, and inventory alignment experience
- High attention to detail with strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Advanced Excel capability and ERP exposure
- Understanding of landed cost, margin impact, and inventory control disciplines
- Confident stakeholder communicator able to resolve supply issues under pressure
