Job summary
A leading timber processor is seeking an ambitious Area Sales Manager to cover South‑East England. The ideal candidate will have a proven sales track record in timber or building materials and excel in building relationships with customers. Responsibilities include managing a customer base, generating sales, and achieving targets while maintaining excellent account management. This role offers a dynamic sales environment with plenty of growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of selling timber or building materials into the builders' merchant sector.
- Experience working with buying groups or their members is essential.
Responsibilities
- Managing and growing an established customer base while generating new business opportunities.
- Building and nurturing strong, long-term relationships with key accounts.
- Achieving and exceeding annual sales targets.
- Taking ownership of the territory and driving continued growth.
- Managing the full sales process and ensuring excellent account management.
- Planning journeys efficiently and maintaining contact with all accounts.
- Undertaking occasional overnight stays and site visits.

With multiple sites across Scotland and Ireland they continue to invest heavily in its people, technology and operations. You'll be joining a forward‑thinking, energetic sales team where your contribution will be valued and rewarded.
- Managing and growing an established customer base while generating new business opportunities
- Building and nurturing strong, long‑term relationships with key accounts, buying groups, and buying group members
- Achieving (and ideally exceeding!) annual sales targets and milestones
- Taking ownership of the territory and driving continued growth
- Managing the full sales process and CRM, ensuring excellent account management and customer service
- Planning journeys efficiently and maintaining regular contact with all accounts
- Undertaking occasional overnight stays due to the size of the territory, as well as regular site and customer visits
You’ll be an ambitious, self‑motivated, and enthusiastic sales professional with a proven track record of selling timber or building materials ideally into the builders' merchant sector. Experience working with buying groups or their members is essential.
You’ll also bring:
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including Directors
- A proactive, driven approach with a passion for developing accounts and growing territory sales
