St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g., ambulance response, falls response, night-time economy, and homelessness outreach) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g., our volunteers and community advocates, NHS cadets, and young responders programs). We also have a buoyant social enterprise network delivering first aid training and supplies medical consumables to businesses and consumers.

St John Ambulance is recruiting an experienced communications professional with a specialization in reputation management, for a six-month, full-time contract.

As Senior Reputation Manager, you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing St John’s reputation, proactively identifying, managing, and mitigating organizational reputational risk. You will be a top-class stakeholder manager and a highly effective influencer, able to quickly build relationships across a large, complex organization. You will manage and participate in the on-call communications rota, write reactive statements, and brief senior leaders on appropriate courses of action.

You will be a senior PR specialist with demonstrable experience in reputation management within a complex organization or business. You’ll be ready to hit the ground running and confident working closely with senior internal stakeholders, including the CEO.

• Responsible for enhancing and protecting the charity’s reputation, advising on the best course of action, assessing risks, and briefing senior leaders as appropriate.
• Manage and be part of the out-of-hours on-call rota, which handles potential negative media coverage.
• Create proactive statements for emerging incidents.
