Job description: We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to lead the newly established Sheffield Community Infection Prevention & Control (CIPC) service.

Background: Sheffield is a large city with a diverse population and geography, supporting over one hundred care homes, supported living homes, Extra Care housing facilities, early years settings, SEND schools, and temporary accommodation for vulnerable residents. The CIPC service, within the Public Health and Integrated Commissioning Directorate, aims to provide high-quality, specialist IPC advice, support, local surveillance, and care to community-based settings providing health and social care services.

The role: We seek an NMC-registered nurse to lead the CIPC team, overseeing the Sheffield Community Infection Prevention & Control Delivery Plan. You will promote effective IPC practices, reduce avoidable infections, and improve health outcomes across the community. The role involves ensuring services are flexible, confidential, and tailored to community needs.

• Service and Programme Delivery: Lead daily service delivery, provide expert advice, support evidence-based IPC guidance, shape local IPC strategies, and ensure compliance through audits and policy development.
• Performance Management: Monitor and review service performance, support public health outcomes, reduce healthcare-associated infections, and maintain IPC standards.
• Planning: Develop IPC policies and plans, conduct health surveillance, needs assessments, and data analysis to inform policy and address health inequalities.
• Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, ensuring value for money.
• People Management: Manage team recruitment, supervision, appraisals, and development, fostering a positive team culture.
• Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with commissioners, health partners, and community settings, communicate effectively, and manage conflicts.
• Representation: Represent the service at strategic forums, contribute to IPC quality improvement, and reflect the service's interests in regional and national discussions, especially around antimicrobial resistance.
