Permanent Senior Illustrator / Designer (Public Sector & Education Focused) - Hybrid South Yorkshire
Salary: £38K (up to £40K for exceptional candidates) + annual performance bonus (~5%)
Location: Hybrid – 4 days remote, 1 day in studio (South Yorkshire)
Flexibility: Flexible working hours, onsite parking, close to public transport
- A creative agency specialising in visual storytelling for education and the public sector is seeking a Lead Illustrator / Designer.
-The role focuses on 2D explainer-style illustration, including live scribing at events, creating infographics, illustrated reports, and animation assets.
- The work blends hands-on design with leadership responsibilities, including managing and mentoring a small design team and helping shape the agency’s creative direction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead illustration / design projects and collaborate with internal teams and clients
- Deliver compelling visual outputs for public sector and academic audiences
- Participate in co-design workshops and live scribing sessions (UK/internationally)
- Represent design thinking in client meetings and internal leadership
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ relevant experience and a degree in illustration, design, or similar
- Strong communication, team leadership, and project management skills
- Skilled in visual storytelling, especially for complex or academic topics
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Procreate, iPad/Apple Pencil workflows
- Portfolio demonstrating clear, effective, and beautiful visual communication
- Bonus: animation or web design experience; live scribing background
