FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:
The Clinical Data Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of data monitoring and operational insights data processing. The role focuses on data modeling and integration of clinical data across studies, as well as operational data and implementation of data pipelines and ETL processes. Teamwork is conducted with data engineers of other teams and processed for all individual studies.
- Design, develop and maintain data processing for clinical/medical insights, review and analytics.
- Responsible for domains of the data model and integration of clinical data within a clinical study as well as operational data from various sources and implementation of data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Collaborate with other data engineers and support in defining and aligning concepts, standards, and best practices for the work on the study portfolio.
- Investigate, understand, transform, integrate and deliver clinical and operational data to generate insights at scale.
- Understand the business context and the requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and developing solutions to meet the immediate and long-term needs of business customers.
- Design and manage the expansions and redesigns of data processing and data integration triggered by changes or optimizations to business processes or system landscapes.
- Ensure connection and communication with the involved parties and teams upstream of the data flow within a clinical study.
- Work in teams with other programmers in solving technical problems in programming, best practices, and standards implementation.
- Design dashboards and workflows for data management insights, medical review and implement automated solutions.
- Support innovation in cross-functional projects and initiatives for data-driven and efficient business processes in the context of Clinical Development & Operations.

- Gross annual remuneration: Within the Offices and Offices Agreement. According to interview.
Qualification and Competencies
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, natural sciences or a related field with at least 3 years of experience as a data engineer or data warehouse expert, optimally with experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech or similar industry. Focus on data engineering design and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) activities and visualization of those.
- Preferably experience in clinical development processes, clinical data domain, clinical data standards and terminology.
- Good to have experience working with clinical data sources EDC, ECOA, Central Lab, transformation into pre-SDTM and SDTM clinical data models as well as operational data from EDC and other sources.
- Fundamental experience with ETL concepts and tools such as Azure ADF and/or experience in R, Python, Spark / PySpark, preferably for creating data models in the clinical area.
- Experience with visualization of data preferably with PowerBI.
- Good understanding of the software life cycle (ITIL), optimally the GxP validation approach.
- Basic understanding of agile methodologies such as scrum.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
