Job summary

About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor, Parking Enforcement & Technology, the Driver, Parking Enforcement is responsible for patrolling and enforcing Brock University parking lots in a vehicle equipped with licence plate recognition (LPR) technology. The Driver, Parking Enforcement assists with enforcement operations, maintains LPR equipment and shares in the responsibility of ticketing, vehicle immobilization and towing. This is a Casual position and the Driver, Parking Enforcement may work a variety of days/shifts including day, afternoon, evening, and campus events on an “on‑call” basis.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a vehicle equipped with LPR to support the enforcement of parking regulations on University property;
  • Coordinate and execute routine vehicle patrols of the University parking lots, take appropriate action when required, issue tickets and complete related paperwork;
  • Provide backup support in responding to vehicle immobilization (booting) and towing processes and document any concerns including pre‑existing vehicle damage;
  • Act as the first point of contact for customers with parking concerns (i.e., wayfinding, payment options, ticket concerns, immobilized or towed vehicles, etc.);
  • Assist with event‑related services including working with Brock departments and external clients on lot use and special event parking directions;
  • Assist with road closures, relocations, directing heavy traffic flow on Brock Campuses outside of daytime hours;
  • Distribute and collect event signage as required;
  • Provide assistance to staff, students and visitors utilizing systems such as Honk and AIMS as required (i.e., investigate accounts, troubleshoot request service repairs or maintenance, etc.);
  • Schedule regular service maintenance, fuel, track mileage for the vehicle(s) as required;
  • Troubleshoot LPR equipment in the absence of the Supervisor, Parking Enforcement & Technology;
  • Assist in management of a maintenance program for parking lots, equipment, Parking Services vehicles, security systems, and liaise with Supervisor, Parking Enforcement & Technology, Facilities Management and external contractors to ensure safety concerns are addressed;
  • Provide backup support for student staff and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Secondary school graduate/diploma;
  • A valid class G Driver’s Licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract;
  • Minimum of three (3) years driving experience;
  • Experience with customer service;
  • Knowledge of by‑laws, Ontario Highway Traffic Act and systems such as Licence Plate Recognition, Honk Mobile and AIMS;
  • Demonstrate ability to work alone and as part of a team;
  • Ability to self‑educate and appropriately and correctly interpret regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills;
  • Strong negotiating skills for dealing with customer and policy issues;
  • Conflict resolution and mitigation skills are required when regularly dealing with upset customers;
  • Strong critical thinking and decision‑making skills required to interpret and support complex policy and procedure.
Preferred or Asset Skills
  • Driving Experience, Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) and previous enforcement experience.
Salary and Total Rewards
  • Job Grade F, Salary Scale ($23.44 - $38.03 hourly);
  • Target Hiring Range:23.44 - $25.00 hourly*

* The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
