How You Will CELLebrate
The Senior Facilities Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of complex industrial projects, ensuring that all technical designs meet both functional requirements and regulatory standards. In this role, the engineer will work on large-scale industrial facilities, including manufacturing plants, production lines, and infrastructure systems, playing a key role in translating project concepts into detailed engineering designs. The Senior Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, procurement, and operations, to ensure that design objectives are aligned with project timelines, cost constraints, and quality expectations.
This role requires a fully onsite presence at our St. Thomas office. This opportunity is within the Operations department and may require travel up to 90 days/year for trainings and workshops domestically or internationally during the first year of employment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of engineering plans for large-scale industrial projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements and specifications.
- Develop and review detailed design documents, blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings, ensuring compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, procurement, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design specifications into the overall project workflow.
- Provide technical expertise and solutions for complex engineering challenges, including mechanical, electrical, and structural systems design.
- Conduct design reviews and feasibility assessments to identify potential risks and propose value engineering solutions.
- Lead design coordination meetings, ensuring that all team members are aligned on project goals and that any design conflicts are resolved promptly.
- Supervise the work of junior design engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and quality control for all design outputs.
- Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that all design inputs are accurate, feasible, and within budget.
- Oversee the implementation of design modifications, ensuring that changes are properly documented and communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements throughout the design process.
- Maintain project documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and design change requests, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.
- Support the project team during the construction phase, providing design clarifications and addressing engineering challenges that arise on-site.
What You Need For Our CELLebration
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of experience in design engineering, with a focus on large industrial projects such as manufacturing plants, production lines, or infrastructure systems.
- Experience working specifically on large projects, with responsibility for technical aspects related to Civil Engineering, including Earthwork, Foundations, and Buried Pipe.
What Else Can You Bring
- Experience working within large, complex project teams and actively participating in construction meetings.
- Experience on Design-Build projects.
- Ability to work safely on an active construction site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or other relevant tools for industrial engineering.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Proficient in construction scheduling, workflows, and quality control/quality assurance.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 10% of the time.
