A provincial healthcare provider in Stony Plain is seeking a Protective Services Officer II to ensure the safety and security of patients and staff. The successful candidate will manage critical events, enforce legislation, and foster positive public relations. Required qualifications include a High School diploma and a valid Community Peace Officer appointment. Preferred qualifications include two years of related work experience and certifications in crisis intervention.

Fluency in multiple languages and public speaking experience are assets. Strong communication, relationship‑building, influence, conflict resolution, training in harms reduction and critical thinking are crucial. Experience working with individuals suffering from addictions, mental health disorders, or the unhoused is highly valued. You must maintain mental concentration and quickly adapt strategies in emergencies. Training in law enforcement, security, or criminal justice is required, preferably with experience or knowledge of working with Indigenous people and diverse backgrounds. As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participate in reviewing and recommending policy, and foster and maintain positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.
High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6‑week program). Valid Class 5 (non‑GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment.
Alberta Class 5 operator’s license, or a provincial equivalent, with no more than four demerits and no charges or pending suspensions.
A minimum two years of related work experience OR a related degree or diploma. Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services (military, forestry, park ranger, corrections, peace officer). CPI Non‑violent Crisis Intervention training and Pressure Point Control Tactic Certificates are also assets. Experience within a healthcare setting. Current First Aid and CPR Level C – AED certification.
