Our client is currently seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Site Supervisor to lead installation and commissioning activities at a utility-scale Solar PV site. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background, 10–15 years of relevant industry experience. This role is based in Welkom. This is a contract position. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
• Develop comprehensive plans for the installation and commissioning of solar PV systems.
• Coordinate resources and activities on-site to ensure project milestones are met within budget and scope.
• Oversee mechanical mounting, electrical interconnection, and inverter configuration of PV systems.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, health & safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Lead functional testing and performance validation of solar arrays, inverters, transformers, and monitoring systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting performance, quality, or safety during commissioning.
• Supervise and support multi-disciplinary site teams.
• Analyse operational data post-commissioning.
• Recommend system improvements for maximum performance and energy yield.
• Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities, performance metrics, and handover documentation.
• Generate detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
BSc/BEng/BTech in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
ECSA registration would be advantageous.
Must have 10–15 years of experience in the electrical engineering sector, including:
Substation design and commissioning (HV/MV systems)
Protection and control schemes
System operations and testing (e.g., DigSilent, relay maintenance)
Renewable energy (preferably solar PV) or utility-scale infrastructure
