Job summary

A leading agri-business in South Africa is seeking a Packing Line Supervisor at their Molteno Packhouse, located in Grabouw. The successful candidate will manage a team, oversee packaging processes ensuring compliance with required food safety standards, and facilitate efficient production flow. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, knowledge of fruit quality standards, and must be flexible in working hours, including night shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a production environment, preferably in a Fruit Packing operation.
  • Knowledge of fruit quality standards and packing machinery.
  • Must be computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor effective fruit grading and packing procedures per specific market standards.
  • Ensure correct working methods regarding food safety.
  • Report relevant production information to assist management.
  • Minimise downtime through effective planning and communication.
  • Lead and develop a team of ±20 workers.

Fruitways is a leading agri-business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.

PACKING LINE SUPERVISOR

Reporting to the Packing Manager, the successful candidate will be based at our Molteno Packhouse in the Grabouw area. The position requires a pro‑active and well‑organised individual, ensuring an effective and efficient packing function by optimising the use of resources and meeting production objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor effective fruit grading and packing procedures per specific market standards.
  • Ensure correct working methods and procedures are adhered to with regards to food safety (BRC and HACCP).
  • Report relevant production information to assist management in taking well informed decisions.
  • Minimise downtime through effective planning and communication.
  • Lead and develop a team of ±20 workers.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 (Tertiary qualification in Production Management or similar qualification will be advantageous).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a production environment- preferably in a Fruit Packing operation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of fruit quality standards, customer specifications and packing machinery.
  • Must have managed and lead a small team of workers.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and work nightshift, public holidays, weekends and overtime if required.
