Job summary
A financial institution in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Commercial Credit Underwriting. The role involves approving credit proposals, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and managing underwriting activities. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably in commercial banking, along with strong analytical and decision-making skills. This position offers an opportunity to make significant contributions in a dynamic banking environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years credit underwriting experience, preferably in commercial banking.
- Strong business sense and competitive awareness.
- Fully understand internal/external guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Approve credit proposals within delegated authority.
- Ensure compliance with credit policies and standards.
- Manage underwriting activities to meet turnaround times.
Skills
Education
- Approving of credit proposals within the delegated approving authority
- Ensure compliance of credit policies, risk acceptance criteria, credit underwriting standards, BNM requirement and any other relevant regulatory/governance.
- Provide independent and prudent credit evaluation.
- Manage underwriting activities of the team to meet turnaround time (TAT).
- Managing the continuous flow of information and feedback to Business Unit and credit underwriter on appropriateness of lending situations, packaging of facilities, advising on skill gaps, timely reviews and credit decisions based on latest approved cases by relevant approving authority.
- Execute/encourage team work, open communication/feedback, coaching and mentoring.
- Facilitate necessary training (if necessary) for related credit areas.
- Minimum 5 years credit underwriting, preferably in commercial banking
- With sound credit analytical skill.
- Matured and result orientated
- Knowledge on effective management methodologies and strategies.
- Strong business sense and competitive awareness as well as sensitivity to business issues in relation to credit proposals.
- Fully understand the internal/external guidelines.
- Degree or professional qualification such as CCP IBBM or any related discipline.
- Delegation/Monitoring/Coaching.
- Time management/Credit assessment.
- Problem solving/Decision making/Analytical tracking.
