The Role & Team: We are recruiting a motion design fellow to work across our video shows. We use animation and graphics to elevate our visual storytelling - making data, maps, and abstract concepts accessible through eye-catching and creative motion design.

The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working closely with showrunners, producers, videographers, and editors to develop and create motion graphics that elevate our videos.
• Identifying and creating relevant graphics such as graphs, maps, text elements, motion graphics templates, backgrounds, and more.
• Working quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team.

The ideal candidate has:

• A passion for digital storytelling.
• A general knowledge of principles and standards of journalism.

Additionally, candidates for the motion design fellowship should have:

• A strong grasp of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and a solid working knowledge of the overall Adobe Creative Suite.
• A passion for storytelling through video on the topics we cover.
• An ability to quickly storyboard from scripts into videos that will be shared across platforms.
• Familiarity with digital and social media, and for how motion design can be optimized for different platforms.
• Effective communication skills and be receptive to feedback.
• Proofreading and copyediting skills.

Salary:

• Fellows are paid £26,000 pro-rata.
• Fellows get 10 days annual leave during the 6-month period.
• This position starts in Summer 2025 and requires that you work full-time for six months.

Business Insider offers hybrid working. We require fellows to live within a commutable distance to our London office as we believe in-person learning is an important part of the fellowship programme.
