We are seeking a Data Center System Software Architect (Site Manager Candidate or Backup) to join our System Technology and Engineering Global team based in London, UK. You'll drive the end-to-end delivery of system software for the company datacenter infrastructure, and work with various team members to support the inspiring and creative products of ByteDance, which bring joy to users around the globe.

1. As a Data Center System Software Architect, you’ll be the bridge between various teams across countries, working closely with people from the data center infrastructure team, computing resource management team, SRE team, and end business teams in different areas, driving stability engineering, performance optimization engineering, and new direction of system-level hardware and software co-design.
2. Initialize and manage a variety of complex, cross-functional programs and lead all aspects of assigned programs delivery.
3. Create and maintain the roadmap for the team.
4. Define the way of driving these programs and constantly find ways of improving them in a data-driven manner.
5. Prepare the project schedule, define the milestones.
6. Track and report progress, identify and mitigate risks, removing blockers.
7. Lead Agile/Scrum teams as a coach or scrum master.
8. Embrace the company culture and principles and promote an environment that embodies the company Principle and Values.

Minimum:

1. BA/BS degree or above.
2. Many years of deep system software background (OS / Kernel / Storage / Networking / Compiler).
3. Good understanding of datacenter system software knowledge, including but not limited to server architecture, CPU/GPU architecture, server firmware, OS, *nix Kernel, datacenter networking, datacenter storage, compiler, at least any two of them.

Preferred:

1. Effective communication skills to handle communications to teams, management, and cross-functional stakeholders at all levels, and a proven track record of getting things done/shipping projects.
2. Experience working in a fast-moving environment where self-motivated, autonomy, and self-decision making is needed (to an extent) and juggle between multiple projects/tasks.
3. Experience working in multi-time zones, multi-culture is preferred.
4. Passionate about the Internet industry and willing to grow with the company in the process of learning by dealing with emerging global issues and challenges.
5. Good project owner background, plus strong organizational and interpersonal skills, will enable you to succeed in the company's fast-paced environment.
